Dr. Turnbull and her associates offer both full assessment and consultation options.
Dr. Turnbull and her associates offer both full assessment and consultation options.
- A full assessment involves two four-hour days of testing whereas a consultation may involve only review of records and/or partial testing as needed.
- A consultation is appropriate for a second opinion on prior evaluations, analysis of past/current interventions to optimize current treatment plans, general education and guidance on navigating your child's specific situation, etc.
What can I expect of the consultation option?
The consultation process varies depending on the nature of each child's situation. Once Dr. Turnbull has spoken with you and if you decide to proceed with the consultation, the office manager will schedule the next step per her direction. A consultation will always include a review of the records you provide, so you are welcome to provide them in advance.
As described on the Assessment page, gathering information during the consultation may involve any of the following: a clinical interview with the parents, a clinical interview with other professionals involved in the case, forms or questionnaires for parents and/or professionals to complete, additional testing with your child, a request for additional records, or other means of obtaining necessary information to complete the consultation.

Do you take insurance?
While we do not deal with insurance directly, we will give you everything you need to file a claim at the conclusion of your assessment. If you would like to check with your insurance company to find out what your plan covers, you can give them the CPT code 96118, which is specific for "neuropsychological testing" and Dr. Turnbull's tax identification number: 810548621, which indicates that she is an "out of network" provider.

I'm an adult, or my child is over 18 years old. How do I know if NSI is the right place for my assessment?
Dr. Turnbull and her associates conduct assessments with adults when the testing question relates to potential developmental disorders such as ADHD and learning disorders. Dr. Turnbull refers some adult clients to her associate, Dr. Marion, if deemed to be more in her areas of expertise. The appropriate provider is determined following a brief phone interview. More information about adult assessments is available here.
